September, 1977, the world’s most famous Catalan artist, Salvador Dali, in his fantasmagorical villa in Cadaquès. It is no surprise then that this prince of Surrealism put on a show for the Catalan national holiday wearing a traditionalbaratina headdress. The self-proclaimed anarcho-monarchiste never forgot his scepter-like cane, designed by Fabergé.0Days0Hours0Minutes0Seconds -

Stoic and mysterious nudes, a vast desert, Greek columns, a blue saturated sky… nothing was left out of Paul Delvaux’s painting featured in this 1974 portrait taken in his studio on the outskirts of Brussels. This disciple of surrealism, along with Magritte, remains one of the 20th century’s most illustrious painters.0Days0Hours0Minutes0Seconds -

Sempé for President? It is December, 1961, and this young, 29-year-old cartoonist from Bordeaux has just been awarded “Revelation of the Year” by Paris Match, alongside comedian Delphine Seyrig and author François Billetdoux. The public loves the poetic and whimsical style of this creator, with René Goscinny, of Le Petit Nicolas. It would take more to inflate this man’s ego.

César
Printed later on fiber-based paper.
Edition 1/1
53 x 80 cm
Black wooden frame, and mat.
César's most well-known sculptures would either be his compressions of objects, especially cars, or his “fingerprints”, like the monumental Pouce, a smaller version of which is kept in his Montparnasse studio. However, in 1980, this leader of the “new realists” changed paths by working with two models, Fabienne and Salima Gardel.0Days0Hours0Minutes0Seconds -

Humor, for César, is essential: it is impossible to understand his work without taking into account the playful, nearly facetious dimension. In 1973, with his eyes closed, he poses surrounded by self portraits that are neither in bronze, marble or even in plaster, but in bread dough, cooked with the complicity of the baker Lionel Poilâne.0Days0Hours0Minutes0Seconds
