Expert's note:
It's not every day that Scotland makes an appearance in a Millon Belgique catalog! The leather case of this beautiful pin has no interior other than crimson velvet tinged with purple and silk on which is inscribed: "From William Sturrock, Jeweler & Watchmaker, 12 St. Andrew Square, Edinburgh". We soon learn that William Sturrock is no ordinary man. He's a jeweler and watchmaker at 12 St. Andrew Square, Edinburgh, and the undisputed winner of the Reid and Auld awards for watchmaking inventions in 1885, 1888 and 1892, given annually to reward the best design or any novelty related to the art of watchmaking. Here, we have the chance to see his jewellery-making expertise.
