EXCEPTIONAL
Perfectly set ring with approx. 1.40 ct. of diamonds, setting an exceptional 13.63 ct. natural sapphire, sugar loaf cut. Two gemmological reports from leading Swiss laboratories accompany this remarkable royal-blue cabochon. SSEFnr. 124462 of September 6, 2022 emphasizes its transparency, its Burmese origin (Myanmar) and its completely natural character without any enhancement. The GRSnr. GRS2017-068138 of June 5, 2017 assigns it the rarest color, vivid royal blue (GRS denomination "bleu royal" /GRS type "royal blue") and the SSEF laboratory indicates its medium to high saturation.
Sapphire dimensions: 11.41 x 11.12 x 10.25 mm.
Finger size: 54
Gross weight: 8.9 g.

Expert's note:
In the top 3 of the world's most beautiful sapphires, we find the Kashmir sapphire in first place, followed by the Burmese sapphire (Myanmar) and the Ceylon sapphire (Sri Lanka). If the former happily exceeds 100,000 euros per carat, this is mainly due to the fact that the mines are depleted and the stones that are beating all records were mostly mined a hundred years ago. But it is currently up against a new competitor, Madagascar sapphire, which can boast the same ideal characteristics as cashmere.
Burmese sapphire's second position depends solely on the fact that it is slightly less rare than cashmere in very high quality. However, it has nothing to envy the latter. The mines in the Mogok region, which have produced some of the most beautiful stones in the Place Vendôme in Paris, have been inaccessible since 2017. This makes stones over 10 carats very rare on the market. The characteristics of the most sought-after Burmese sapphires are their luminous, intense royal blue color, high purity and absence of inclusions. The big houses don't hesitate to send their gemologists to the other side of the world to see the quality of a single stone. Burmese sapphires fetch well over 25,000 euros per carat when the stone is very beautiful.
The ring presented by Millon Belgique with its 13.63 ct. sapphire shows exceptional qualities that are enhanced by the sugar loaf cabochon cut. A variation on the cabochon with softened corners and apexes, this is the ideal cut to reveal a rare homogeneous color (with no zones of color) and a showcase of transparent purity. Beautifully symmetrical, its presence is imposing.
